The team to continue to work on the deck, installing the engine beds and then the engine. One hears that the summer in Örnsköldsvik has been beautiful and warm. Bo even felt it necessary to express how bored he was of the sky being so blue everyday.
Leif Wikberg has been a regular presence in the boat shed. Leif and filmmaker Jan Dufva have been working on a larger project involving the Ester. One of the by-products of this work is these beautiful images we’ve been given permission to use.
Meb and Johannes have been the linchpin of the project for over a year. Without their constant hard work and meticulous attention to detail, there would be very little done. Mebrathom began working with Bo a couple of years ago and has seen most of the work on Ester since she returned from the sea bed. He has had a hand in all aspects of the build and has brought his conscientious eye to the deck in some very careful workmanship. Johannes has metal skills from an earlier life that have brought many innovations and fixes to some of the everyday problems we encounter in these unusual projects. He happens to be a dab hand with edge tools too! Together, the team have made great progress on the deck and hope to finalise this stage by closing in this autumn.
When the deck is finished, we will have much to do building the mast, boom, gaff and rudder. Julianne Hempel continues to contribute her valuable advice regularly and we rely on her insight.
